During our 2nd week the students are beginning to get in the groove of the daily routine of class work and homework. Please be sure to check your child's agenda nightly. They should have their homework written in their daily. In addition, circled items in your child's agenda indicate that your child did not do/complete that particular assignment. The agenda is a very valuable communication tool between home and school. You, too, may use it to write any questions, comments, and concerns. I try to be very diligent about checking the agendas daily.
The class was very excited about sharing their time capsules this week. The students rated each presentation on 7 criteria and the presenters rated the audience's behavior, as well, on a scale from 1-3. Everyone is enjoying learning about each other. We will be finishing up the presentations next week. Then we will seal our time capsules, put them away for the year, and open them during the last week of school.
To add to the excitement, the class went to the science lab and learned about the steps to the scientific method. Our question was "What flavor of gum lasts the longest?" As you can imagine the students hated the idea of chewing gum in school. (Ha!) If you get the chance please ask your child about our gum experiment.
Be on the lookout for a behavior/work checklist that will be going home next week with Thursday papers. After reviewing the checklist and graded papers please sign and return the checklist only (half sheet of neon green paper). In addition, we will be starting a new geography project and beginning our historical fiction reading project.
Finally, I would like to thank you again for your continued support. Have a great weekend.
