Menchies September Spirit Night with Addison

WOW! What a great turn out for Menchies Night.  It was a yummy night for sure.  Thanks to all those who came out between 3:00 and 8:00pm.  And congrats to all those students who knew that Mrs. Crowder and I love Gummy Worms as a topping.  Be sure to listen for our least favorite topping when we have our next Menchies Night on Tuesday, October 11th.  You just may win a free Menchies!

For now, enjoy some photos from the night. Cheers

Another Test???? Learn more about the CogAT and ITBS Testing

Testing

Yes, all Cobb County and Addison students in grades 1 and 3 will be taking the CogAT Test on October 5th - 7th and all students in grades 3 and 5 will be taking the ITBS on October 10th-14th.  The CogAT Test looks at the ability of the child while the ITBS looks at the achievement level of the student.

We invite parents to come visit Addison on Thursday, September 29th.  The PTA will be offering Munch and Mingles at 9:30am and 6:00pm for you to learn more about the ITBS Test and other Testing related issues.  Omega Learning will be partnering with us for the event.  A form was already sent home with your child.  Just let us know which session you want to attend and we'll make sure there is some food waiting here for you. You can always call the front office for more info.

Our main goal is to help educate you about testing and the ITBS Test.

What can you do as a parent?

  1. Educate yourself about the tests.
  2. Don't put stress on your child. Just tell them to do their best.
  3. Get your children to bed on time the night before.
  4. Allow your child to have a healthy breakfast the day of the test.
  5. Come to school prepared and on time to start off the day on a great note.

We start testing at 8:00am so please make sure your students arrive on time during this testing season. Thanks!

Stevi B's Night is a BIG HIT!!!!!

Thanks to all those who attended our first Stevi B's Night. Great attendance and lots of pizza eaten. I know I enjoyed the mushroom pizza the most! Cheers

The Science Lab is Open for Business

Thank you to the Addison Elementary School Foundation for helping to support the Science Lab.  Julie Knobbe is doing an amazing job.  Classes continue to visit and do hands on science projects.  Ask your child what they've done lately.  Be sure to check out some photos.

Congratulations to Mary, our Classified Person of the Year

It's a celebration for our custodian as she was selected as Addison's Classified Person of the Year.  Mary Walpool had a chance to celebrate at the Cobb County Luncheon in August.  Be sure to check out photos from the event.  Congrats Mary!

Built For Success: Celebrations in the Office

Build for success in office
Has your child been to the Principal or the Assistant Principal's office lately? We're not taking about going for bad things, we're talking about the opportunity to share with Mrs. Crowder and Mr. Cohen all the wonderful things your child is accomplishing at school.  Great learning is taking place at Addison everyday.  Mrs. Crowder and Mrs. Cohen want to celebrate your child's success as they are invited to visit the office and share the great work they are doing.  It can be reading, writing, math or art.  Whatever your child's strength may be, they want to see it.  During their office visit, the students are invited to put their name on a house and tape it to the wall.  The next day the child's name will be shared on the morning announcements.  The goal is to fill up both offices with houses as we show the world how Addison Students Are Built For Success!

Chick-Fil-A Night Brings Out A Big Crowd

Cow time Milkshake 2 Eat time Ice cream 1

Thursday, August 25th, was Chick-Fil-A Night.  This spirit night is a fundraiser for Addison as we get 10% of the money spent. The restaurant was packed with teachers, students and family members.  Personally, I enjoyed my cookies and cream milkshake.  Yummy!  Thanks to everyone who came out to support our school.
