CRCT Practice

Today, in preparation for the CRCT, third, fourth, and fifth grade students demonstrated their Language Arts skills.  They enjoyed using the ACTIVboard!

ESOL Students Enjoy the Activboard

The 1st and 2nd graders enjoyed visiting the garden room today with Mrs. Bartz

and experiencing the "new" technique of learning.  Each  student got the chance to

physically interact by manipulating objects to demonstrate their knowledge on the

Actiivboard.

Erupting a Volcano

First and second graders really got into their "writing" when they were told that they would be builing a volcano and making it erupt.  First the students were given a "recipe" to read.  Then they had to check  off all the materials needed in order to begin. ( Smelling vinegar can really get a person going!)  Next they read the recipe step by step, and wrote their own directions as they completed each task.  Finally the big moment came when the vinegar was poured into the crater of the volcano. Yes, it erupted!!! The students were so engaged and it made writing so  much easier.

They then viewd some real videos of volocanoes erupting on the internet and listened to the actual sounds taped of volcanic eruptions.

I Never Knew Science Could Be So Much Fun!

Kindergarten through fifth grade enjoyed learning how to make ice cream.  Everyone learned the meaning of how to follow a "recipe."   Each were given the actual recipe and took turns reading it step by step to their classmates.  One "Scientist of the Week"  was chosen to wear the lab coat and assist me in the experiment.  Everyone enjoyed "shaking the bag" to music for 5 minutes in order for the milk to freeze, and then Keating the ice cream.  Yes, Science can be soooo much fun!!

Second Grade Play

Second graders performed an outstanding play on "The Dog Ate My Homework".
