Reading Week

Our Annual Reading Week takes place during the final week of school. It is an opportunity for family members, friends and locals  to drop in and share how reading impacts their daily lives while sharing a favorite book or two with students.

If you would like to be involved...there is still time! Please contact Mrs. Jinny Shope at Addison Elementary, she will help you schedule your visit!

Author's Tea...A Celebration of the Written Word!

Please plan to join our class in a celebration!

We will hold an Author's Tea on Friday, May 9, 2008 at noon in the Addison Elementary Media Center.

Your child has an invitation for you.

This event will honor each student's fourth grade Democratic Service Learning comic book project.

Student comic book sales raised over $1, ooo for Children's Health Care of Atlanta!

CRCT....Almost Finished!

Our class has worked very hard on the CRCT. Thus far we have completed the Reading, English-Language Arts, and Math tests. This Monday, April 28, we will be tested on Science and Social Studies will be tested this Tuesday, April 29, 2008.

Please continue to see that your student gets to bed early, rises on time, eats a hearty breakfast, and arrives to school on time.

These positive daily routines make a big difference in their school day.

Thanks so much for the mints you all sent in...our students have enjoyed eating them while testing. Your kindeness is much appreciated!

Current Math Studies

We continue our study of decimals and fractions, to include multiplication and division of decimals. We are examining division patterns to assist the development of mental math strategies.

Here are many math sites from our County math Facilitator:

We used this site in the classroom and found it to be fun, yet challenging.

Multiplication and Division Facts

Please work with your student to assist them with their basic facts...many students know their facts, but they lack the speed necessary to solve long division problems with 2-digit divisors accurately and quickly.
