Reading Week

Reading Week is coming!!  Every year we celebrate reading in the final week of school.  If you would like to come in and read to our class, please contact Jinny Shope and she will put you on the schedule.  We would love to have you read to our class!

It's Spring!

Spring is definitely in the air!  As Spring Break quickly approaches, that also means that CRCT is just around the corner.   It is very important for your child to be at school on time every day.  We begin our day promptly at 7:45 and it is vital for their success that they are here on time.  Thank you for your cooperation with this!!

Behavior System Changes

I have posted the letter that went home today (2/27/08) regarding behavior system changes in the classroom.

December 4th, 2007

As the holiday season is upon us, I know that our schedules become busier than ever.  Thank you for taking the time to talk with your child about their day, read with them and continue to practice math facts.

I hope that you are enjoying working together on the American Symbols projects.  A great website to look up facts is Ben's Guide to U.S. Government for Kids.  I am so excited to see all of the projects this Friday, December 7th.

Please remind your child that we have many days of learning before we have our Winter Break.  There are many standards that we will cover in the next few weeks and it is very important that ever child comes to school ready to learn.

Also, please remember to send a healthy snack to school every day.  We have no extra snacks as of today.

As always, if you would like to contact me, email is the most efficient.

Update

It has been awhile since I truly blogged about our classroom experiences!  We have been such busy learners!

We had a wonderful time with High Touch/High Tech and all of the weather experiments.  Ask your child what their favorite part was.  My favorite part to watch was when they made hail stones out of raisins.

We have been working diligently on our math.  We are learning our addition and subtractions facts and many strategies to help us with those.  We are also creating glyphs that express data about ourselves.  We have made a scarecrow glyph, an apple glyph and also a pumpkin glyph.

Wow!  I am so impressed with the progress we have made with our reading.  I can tell that everyone is reading at home and that is wonderful!

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to email me.

Apples!

We did a mini unit on Apples last week!  We had an apple taste test and then completed an apple graph about our favorite type of apple!
